Young Scientist Incentive Plan, or Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), is a scholarship program supported by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India with the goal of enticing undergraduates to pursue research careers in the basic sciences. Selected students were eligible for scholarships and contingency grants up to the pre-Ph.D. level. It was started in 1999 and was run by the Indian Institute of Science.
In addition to being eligible for admission to institutions like the IISc and the IISER based on additional criteria, students who passed the KVPY Exam were also eligible for fellowships. Three streams made up this exam: SA for Class 11, SX for Class 12, and SB (First year BSc). From 2012–2013, the SP Basic Sciences stream (Classes 11, 12, and First-Year BSc, BTech) and SP Medicine stream (First-Year MBBS) were withdrawn, it was notified on KVPY's website on July 18, 2022.
DST made the decision to combine KVPY and INSPIRE. Beginning in 2022, the KVPY aptitude test will no longer be administered. As per DST norms, current KVPY fellows will continue to receive their fellowships.

Students frequently misunderstand what SA KVPY stream, SX KVPY stream, and SA KVPY stream SB SX mean. We'll go over each one individually:
Students who completed the 10th board exam and are qualified to enroll in the 11th standard (Science subjects) during the academic year 2022–2023, as a one-time measure due to the COVID-19 epidemic, are entitled to take this aptitude test.
However, after being chosen as a provisional KVPY fellow, students must once again present a study certificate from the 11th grade.
All chosen students will receive an invitation to the National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp during the interim year, and KVPY will pay for their travel costs and lodging in the area.
Students who are engaged in science courses in the 12th grade during the academic year 2022–2023 and who hope to enroll in undergraduate basic science programs (B.Sc., B.S., B.Stat., B.Math., International M.Sc., International M.S.) during the academic year 2022–2023
Additionally eligible are Cambridge International Examination Board second-year students who wish to enroll in Basic Sciences undergraduate programs.
Students who have passed the 12th grade board exam and are qualified to enroll in the first year of B.Sc., B.S., B.Stat., B.Math., International M.Sc., or International M.S. for the academic year 2021–2022 may take the aptitude test for Stream SB.
