JEE MAIN 2024: ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA, AGE LIMIT AND QUALIFICATION

There are two papers in the Joint Entrance Examination, or JEE (Main). Applying to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes (B.E/B.Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and Universities/Institutions funded/recognized by participating State Governments requires passing Paper 1. AGE LIMIT

There is no age limit for candidates to appear in the JEE (Main) – 2024. Candidates who passed the class 12/equivalent examination in 2022, 2023, or are appearing in 2024, regardless of age, are eligible to take the JEE (Main) – 2024 examination. Candidates may need to fulfill the age requirements of the Institute or Institutes that they intend to apply to.

QUALIFICATION FOR JEE MAIN 2024

QUALIFYING EXAMINATIONS LIST

1. The final examination of the 10+2 system, administered by any recognized Central/State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education in New Delhi, the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations in New Delhi, and so on.

2. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination administered by a recognized Board/University.

3. Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy 4. The National Institute of Open Schooling administered Senior Secondary School Examination, with a minimum of five subjects.

5. Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

6. Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.

7. A three-year diploma recognized by the AICTE or a state body of technical education.

8. Advanced (A) level General Certificate of Education (GCE) test (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka).

9. Cambridge University’s High School Certificate Examination or the International Baccalaureate Diploma from the International Baccalaureate Office in Geneva.

10. Candidates who have finished the Class 12 (or comparable) examination outside of India or from a Board other than those listed above must submit a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) stating that the test they passed is equivalent to the Class 12 Examination.

11. If the Class 12 Exam is not a public test, the candidate must have previously passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

YEAR OF PARTICIPATION IN THE ELIGIBILITY EXAM

The applicants eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2024 are limited to those who passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2022, 2023, or who are taking the exam in 2024.

Applicants are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2024 if they passed the Class 12 or equivalent test in 2021 or earlier, or if they plan to take the exam in 2024 or later.

TOTAL NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS

 Examinees may sit for the exam three times in consecutive years in terms of attempts.

SUBJECTS COVERED IN THE QUALIFICATION EXAM

At least five subjects from the qualifying exam—Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational Subject—must have been passed by the applicants to be eligible for JEE Main 2024.

75 PERCENT OF THE JEE MAINS 2024 REQUIREMENTS

Last year, NTA imposed the eligibility requirement of 75% marks for JEE Mains. Nowadays, in order to be eligible for JEE Mains, aspirants must receive at least 75% of their class 12 marks in order to be admitted to their preferred institute. There was no such need before COVID-19. If a candidate fails to meet at least 75% of the JEE Mains criteria, they will be disqualified and cannot be admitted to any institute, including CFTIs, NITs, IIITs, or IITs.
